Carolina Herrera is a Venezuelan-American designer known for her classic and refined style. She was born on January 8, 1939 in Caracas, Venezuela. As a child she was interested in fashion and art and was inspired by her grandmother who sent her haute couture dresses from Paris.
Herrera began her career as a publicist for Emilio Pucci. She was a well-known figure in international society and was often praised for her elegant taste. In 1980 she started her own fashion house with the support of the legendary Vogue editor Diana Vreeland.
