Italian designer Giorgio Armani and his timeless suits

I

Giorgio Armani, an Italian fashion designer born on July 11, 1934 in Piacenza, Italy, has made lightness, class and simplicity in suits very popular. The luxury fashion brand “Armani” was founded in 1975. It produces and sells leather goods, shoes, accessories, watches and cosmetics. For decades, the company has been a mainstay of the clothing industry and is known for its luxury accessories and clothing.

They were ready-to-wear, stunning and artfully styled suits, and these garments were carefully tailored to the buyer’s figure and were precisely tailored. An Armani suit typically consisted of three pieces: a fully lined three-button jacket with padded shoulders, a vest of the same color with standard trousers lined only to the knees in the front. The finest cotton, wool, silk, cashmere or linen was used to make the suit, which was either charcoal, black or navy blue. It always felt soft and smooth.

These unique suits by famed Italian designer Giorgio Armani caused quite a stir in the 1970s and early 1980s as ready-to-wear clothing for wealthy, fashion-conscious men. Armani suits were also known for their comfortable fit, spectacular appearance, and simple yet exquisite design. The suit was the star “power suit” in the 1980s, a term used to describe clothing that would demonstrate the power, or at least the aspirations, of the individual. It exuded authority and self-confidence. Wall Street stockbrokers and entertainment industry representatives favored Armani outfits; they could even often be seen at the Academy Awards.

Due to his fame, Armani was the next fashion designer to grace the cover of Time magazine after Christian Dior (1905-1957) in 1982. The fashion designer also applied his basic fashion principle – expensive does not mean cumbersome or overly complicated – to the simple, elegant suits he designed for women. His pantsuits and black or neutral-colored blazers became the norm for women both inside and outside their workplaces. Celebrities who appreciated these suits include basketball coach Pat Riley and actor Richard Gere (1949-), who was seen wearing them in the 1980 film “American Gigolo”.

The soft shoulder – Armani’s most famous design feature – was first incorporated into his famous suits in the 1980s, adding a touch of relaxation and modernity to the extremely stiff jacket. Most Armani suits are fused rather than bonded. They are mostly made by machine and very little by hand. It’s an expensive factory suit. What makes a fused suit different from a woven suit? Carefully separate the layers from each other. If you notice an extra layer inside the suit, the suit is fully linen. The likelihood that the jacket is fused increases if you can’t see a third layer, or if the fabric feels thicker and stiffer compared to the sleeves. Today, Armani is a well-known designer whose sculpted, sparkling dresses often grace the red carpet.

Currently, Armani has grouped its labels into three main groups: Giorgio Armani, Armani Exchange and Emporio Armani, which includes EA7. There are some significant differences between these brand categories, although they are all associated with the Armani design house. The most expensive, luxurious and high-end brand is Giorgio Armani. Teenagers, street style enthusiasts and the general public are the target markets of Armani Exchange, often known as A|X. Among Armani labels, it is also the most affordable.

Giorgio Armani’s style is characterized by simple, original and elegant designs. The Italian designer is still in great demand since the launch of his collection. The current men’s collection by Giorgio Armani includes an elegant wool sport coat, a chic fur jacket, a micro gingham pattern shirt, a long-sleeved t-shirt with a wave pattern and much more. Armani suits are still among the most exquisite suits of all time.
