J

Jean Paul Gaultier is one of the most famous and influential fashion designers in the world. He was born on April 24, 1952 in Arcueil, France and began his career as an assistant to Pierre Cardin. Since then, he has revolutionized the fashion world with his innovative and provocative collections that often mix androgyny, street styles, haute couture and other seemingly contradictory cultural symbols.

Gaultier is best known for his iconic designs, such as the cone bra corset he designed for Madonna in the 1980s and the sailor stripes that became his trademark. He has also dressed numerous celebrities, including Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga and Rihanna. His creations are not only garments, but also works of art that often convey social or political messages. For example, he has championed the rights of women, homosexuals and minorities and celebrated the beauty of diversity.

Gaultier has designed not only ready-to-wear fashion, but also haute couture, perfumes, jewelry and even furniture. He has also worked on various film and theater projects, such as “The Fifth Element” by Luc Besson and “Kika” by Pedro Almodóvar.

In 2020, Gaultier announced that he would present his last haute couture show to pursue new creative challenges. However, he promised that his fashion house would continue to exist and nurture new talent. His farewell show was a spectacular tribute to his 50-year career, which brought more than 200 models and stars such as Boy George, Dita Von Teese and Mylène Farmer to the catwalk.

Jean Paul Gaultier is undoubtedly a genius of fashion who has always pushed boundaries and challenged conventions. He has created a distinctive style that combines humor, eroticism and elegance. He has understood fashion as a form of expression and freedom, inspiring the world.
