Laura Biagiotti – An icon of Italian fashion

Laura Biagiotti was one of the most famous Italian fashion designers, known for her extraordinary creations. She was born in Rome in 1943 and studied archaeology before turning to fashion. She began her career as an assistant to her mother, who ran a tailor’s workshop, and designed her first own collection in 1972. Since then she has left her mark on the world of fashion with her elegant and feminine style, often inspired by Roman culture and art.

She was one of the first designers to use cashmere as a material for her clothes and made it her trademark. She created elegant and feminine looks inspired by Roman culture and Mediterranean lifestyle. She also experimented with colors, patterns and shapes, creating innovative designs.

Laura Biagiotti was a pioneer in many fields. She was the first Italian designer to hold a fashion show in China in 1988. She was also the first designer to receive the Prix Femmes d’Europe, in 2001, for her contribution to promoting women’s participation in the development of Europe.

She also designed perfumes, jewelry, accessories and home textiles under her brand name.

Laura Biagiotti died of a heart attack in 2017 at the age of 73. She left a great legacy in the fashion world and was honored as “The Queen of Cashmere.” Her daughter Lavinia took over the management of the company and continues her mother’s tradition. Laura Biagiotti will always be remembered as one of the most important and innovative Italian designers.
