Otto Kern – The man who revolutionized fashion

Otto Kern was one of the most famous and successful fashion designers in Germany. He founded his own label in 1970 and created collections for men and women, which were characterized by elegance, quality and style. His name stands for a modern and cosmopolitan lifestyle, which was appreciated by many celebrities.

Otto Kern was born in Nürtingen on February 8, 1950. He initially studied business administration at the University of Mannheim, but dropped out to pursue his passion for fashion. He traveled extensively to Italy and France for inspiration and to make contacts.

In 1970, he founded his own company, Otto Kern GmbH & Co. KG with headquarters in Kaiserslautern. He initially designed shirts for men, which he marketed under the brand name Otto Kern. His shirts were characterized by high-quality fabrics, refined cuts and original details. They soon became best sellers and made Otto Kern one of the leading shirt manufacturers in Europe.

In the following years, he expanded his range to include other clothing items such as pants, sweaters, jackets, coats, suits and accessories. He also created a women’s collection, which was also very well received. His fashion was always contemporary, but not fashionable. It reflected the taste and attitude to life of a generation that was self-confident, independent and cosmopolitan.

Otto Kern was not only a gifted designer, but also a skilled businessman. He built up an international distribution network and licensed his brand to various partner companies. He opened his own boutiques in Germany and abroad and cooperated with renowned department stores. He also created elaborate advertising campaigns with well-known models and actors.

Otto Kern was not only a fashion czar, but also a bon vivant. He loved the jet-set life and was often seen at parties, events and galas. He had several marriages and affairs with beautiful women and was the father of several children. He owned several luxury properties in Germany, Spain and Monaco. He was also an avid motor sportsman and participated in several races.

Otto Kern died on December 10 or 11, 2017, at his home in Larvotto, a district of Monaco. The exact cause of death is not known, but it is assumed that he suffered a heart attack. He left a great legacy in the fashion world and was appreciated by many companions and fans as a visionary and pioneer.
