Z

Zuhair Murad is one of the most sought-after fashion designers in the world. His glamorous creations adorn the red carpets from Hollywood to Cannes and make the hearts of celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Celine Dion or Heidi Klum beat faster. But who is the man behind the dreamlike gowns that combine art, craftsmanship and elegance?

Zuhair Murad was born in 1971 in Baalbek, a city in eastern Lebanon. As a child, he showed a passion for fashion, drawing sketches of dresses for his sisters and girlfriends. After graduating from school, he moved to Paris to study at the prestigious fashion school La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. There he learned the basics of tailoring and the history of haute couture.

After graduating, he returned to Lebanon and opened his own studio in Beirut in 1997. His talent did not remain undiscovered for long and he soon became a local celebrity. He received his first international recognition in 1999, when he presented his collection at the Alta Roma Fashion Week in Rome. Since then, he has expanded his presence at the world’s most important fashion shows and regularly shows his collections in Paris, Milan and New York.

Zuhair Murad is known for his opulent and feminine designs, often embellished with embroidery, beads, feathers, lace or crystals. He draws inspiration from different cultures, eras and places to create dresses that are both modern and timeless. His trademark is the perfect fit and the play with transparency and volume. He says himself, “I love to beautify women and make them feel special.”

Zuhair Murad not only has evening and bridal wear on offer, but also prêt-à-porter, accessories, perfumes and even his own line of furniture. He employs more than 300 people at his main atelier in Beirut and has boutiques in Paris, Beirut and Dubai. He also collaborates with other brands, such as Swarovski and Chopard.

Zuhair Murad is not only a successful businessman, but also a committed citizen. He supports various social and humanitarian projects in his home country and worldwide. He is particularly sensitive to the situation of women in the Middle East and advocates for their rights and education. He says, “I am proud to be Lebanese and to represent my culture. I hope that I can make a positive contribution through my work.”

Zuhair Murad is undoubtedly a star of the international fashion scene and a role model for many young designers. His vision of beauty and glamour has made him a favorite of celebrities who wear his creations with pride. He says, “I am happy when I see that my customers are satisfied and feel comfortable in my clothes. That is my greatest reward.”
